GCSE Period Information and Guidance

As you will all be aware exams start in full on Monday 16th May. We think that we have put together a great package of support for our students and recognise the pivotal role that you play as parents in supporting your child through their exams. With this in mind there are some updates that we wanted to share with you to keep you informed during what can at times be a stressful experience for your child (and you!)

We have used the roadmap below to support students in understanding the timeline ahead of them, we look forward to celebrating the end of the exam period with students at both our onsite leavers event and at our Academy Prom.

Your child will know that they are expected to attend full time until Monday the 20th of June. This is so that they can attend exam preparation sessions, the year 11 timetable has been altered to reflect the exams that students are preparing for – students will be supported in knowing where to go by their tutors every morning and have been noting down the changes to their timetable this week during tutor times.

On GCSE days students will be welcomed into the Academy by the Senior and pastoral teams, if your child is not on site by 8.30 and we have not heard from you we will need to get in touch to understand the reasons for this so that we can provide the necessary support and advice. If you have a query or issue relating to any exams please contact the academy on 0117 440 8900 and select option 1 ‘year 11 exams helpline’ this will allow you to record a message which will be responded to as soon as we can.

During exams we will be supporting students by opening our canteen later on exam days, however we would recommend that your child brings additional snacks with them to keep their energy levels up throught the day.  If your child has extra time arrangements this is particularly important. To support a smooth experience for your child please can you ensure that they always have the correct exam equipment with them. Water bottles need to be transparent not tinted.
