Letter from Academy Principal
Dear Parent & Carers
I am writing to follow up with families from my e mail last week as I have been welcomed into the Academy as Principal. The children of Hanham have been wonderful in their conversation with me, sharing ideas and asking strong questions. I have enjoyed their level on enquiry.
Staff, teachers and leaders have also been working swiftly in providing feedback of their evaluations of the current Behaviour policy and some of the areas we would benefit from improving.
Tutors spoke with students this morning and reminded them of the standards and expectations we hold at Hanham with regards to the following ;
- Wearing the correct Uniform
- Mobile phones not to be seen or heard
- Appropriate behaviour at social time.
There are no real changes to these expectations, the full staff team will be reminding students of this from tomorrow. You may talk with your children, if we have needed to remind them to have the right approach, they will be given a slip with Uniform expectations and conduct. If their phone is seen or heard it will be confiscated until the end of the day. Students will be able to collect their phone at the end of the day, this is the only change. Parents will only be expected to collect the phone if the student has had it confiscated 3 times this week.
I attach a copy of the uniform and behaviour policy for your reference, thank you for talking with your children and supporting our work to raise the standards and expectations at Hanham Woods Academy.
Kind regards
Kath Cooper
Academy Principal
