Notification of Change in Use of Layby – Effective from 11th July 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to the use of the layby located directly outside the main gates of Hanham Woods Academy and Christchurch Hanham CE Primary School.

From Thursday, 11th July 2025, the layby will be repurposed to serve as a designated coach parking area. This change is being implemented to improve the safeguarding and safety of our students and pupils, particularly during school trips and events. The change is also designed to reduce the impact on other local traffic during coach pick-up and drop-off times.

Please note:

• The layby will be reserved exclusively for coach parking at all times, including evenings and weekends (to accommodate any trips returning outside of school hours).
• Signage will be updated to reflect the new usage.
• We kindly ask that parents/carers refrain from parking in this area from the effective date.

We understand that this may affect parking in the vicinity, and we are working closely with local authorities to ensure that the transition is managed smoothly and with minimal disruption.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make this important change to support our students’ safety and logistical needs.
