Safeguarding Incident – Parent/Carer Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

This morning, we were made aware of a safeguarding incident on Academy grounds involving a Hanham Woods Academy student. I am writing to reassure you that no-one was harmed during the incident, and all students remain safe. At no point did any of our students face any direct personal threat.

Academy staff acted quickly, in line with our robust safeguarding protocols, as soon as we were alerted to this incident. This meant the matter was quickly and safely resolved.

Although we are unable to share details relating to any incident involving an individual child, I would like to reassure you that we are treating this incident seriously and have already begun an investigation in line with our safeguarding procedures.

We are currently following up with any students who were directly impacted by this incident, and will also be leading a whole-Academy assembly this afternoon to provide further reassurance for all students. We will also continue to make support available to any students who feel they need it in the days ahead.

I hope this letter reassures you that the safety and wellbeing of all Hanham Woods Academy students remains our top priority and staff will act decisively to ensure they are protected at all times.

Your sincerely

Mr S O’Callaghan | Academy Principal
