School Open as Normal – Friday 26th June with Heat Safety Measures in Place
Dear Parent & Carers
Following careful analysis of information from the UK Met Office, the UK Health Security Agency, and our own trust and school site data, we have taken the decision to open on Friday 26th June for the full school and normal timetable.
Temperatures are forecast to fall by Friday and are expected to be significantly cooler than earlier this week. However, we recognise the potential risks associated with sustained higher temperatures over recent days, and for this reason we will be implementing a number of additional control measures to mitigate these.
These will include early ventilation of the school buildings, temporary adjustments to uniform expectations – all students are permitted to wear PE kit, ensuring pupils and staff remain well hydrated and provision of shaded and cool seating areas in social time. There will not be any use of the astro in these times and PE lessons will make adjustments to the curriculum for shaded/indoor areas and low-level activity. Keep classrooms well ventilated – windows and blinds & doors open.
The year 10 Future aspirations career event will now take place on Friday 10th July as many of the providers are unable to attend. This will mean lessons for year 10 will run as normal. The adjusted exam TT for Mon, Tue & Wed will remain as already communicated.
Finally, a sincere thank you to all staff for your support in what continues to be a dynamic and challenging situation. Your professionalism, flexibility and commitment continue to be critical in ensuring that we keep children safe whilst maintaining high-quality learning.
Yours sincerely
Mrs K Cooper
Senior Principal
