Strike Action Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing today, as promised, with an update regarding recent National Education Union action at Hanham Woods Academy: I am pleased to report that we have now reached full agreement with union members and strike action provisionally planned for this week will not go ahead

Union officials confirmed at 9.37am today that their members have accepted proposals put forward by school leaders in full.

That means that a full, scheduled timetable for all year groups will be in place as planned from tomorrow (Tuesday) onwards. Your child should therefore attend school as normal.

I appreciate that the NEU action has caused significant disruption for students and their families at the beginning of this year, however I am hugely grateful for the patience and support shown to the school during this time. Hanham Woods has continued to be a positive learning environment, and students have demonstrated an excellent attitude to their studies. They have been a credit to themselves and to you.

I hope this outcome reassures all families of the efforts made by school leaders to bring this matter to a swift and successful conclusion.

Yours sincerely,

   Chris Ballard,

Principal
