WORLD BOOK DAY-Weeks Beginning 27th February & 6th March

Dear Parents/Carers,

Hanham Woods Academy will be taking part in more than a week’s worth of activities to celebrate the wonderful world of reading and literature.

The celebrations will include a special assembly led by Mrs Hendra (Vice-Principal), Tutor Time Activities which have been planned by the student House Council, a Read-A-Thon, and a dress-up day on Friday 10th March, which will raise money for the Hanham Woods Academy Library. Below is some more information on how you can support these events and contribute to improving the Library at the Academy.

The Read-A-Thon: Students from all Year Groups, will be participating in a Read-A-Thon, when they will each be given a slot where they will read from a book of their choice; students will then pass on the ‘reading baton’. To support this cause, you can donate on SCOPAY.

Dress-Up Day: Staff and students will dress-up as a character from their chosen book. Students will also be allowed to wear appropriate non-Academy uniform, bringing in £1 which will go towards the Academy Library Fund. Students who choose to dress up will be entered into a competition with a chance to win Amazon vouchers.

If you have any questions concerns about the content of the week’s activities or would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Hurrell ([email protected]), Mrs Hendra ([email protected]) or Ms Leslie ([email protected])

Yours Sincerely
