Y10 Summer Exams – 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of term 5, I wanted to make you aware of the end of year examinations that will be taking place from Tuesday 16th June until the 26th June. This will be an important period of time for the students as it will give them specific actionable feedback on their current level of knowledge in each of their subjects. This is the first iteration of their Pre Public Examinations (PPE’s or Mocks) and will be followed by another round in November and February ahead of their final Summer Exams this time next year 2027.

Below I have detailed all key information and some answers to common questions that you may have around this process.

When is each exam taking place?

Give the tight turnaround between year 11 and the end of the academic year, the exams are always in a condensed format. We are currently working on finalising the Year 10 timetable, and this will be shared with you after half-term. Multiple exams may well be scheduled for each (day this is also common in the year 11 summer exams as well) to allow the exams to fit into the two-week period.

Where is each exam taking place?

Most students will be completing their exams a designated large space in the Academy. This will mimic the experience of the summer exams in year 11.

How will my child know when each exam is and where it will take place?

Students will have an assembly from me outlining the assessments and what will be involved, alongside support with revision skills. They will receive a personalised timetable which contains the exams, rooming’s, and seat numbers.

What can I do to help my child prepare?

Students may find this period challenging, but it is a time to showcase their best and being prepared is vital. Your support from home in ensuring your child has the best possible preparation. To aid this please:

  • Homework during term 5 has been reflecting the setting of exam questions to begin to practice, questions found in subjects’ exams.
  • Ensure they have a quiet and calm space to do some revision. Revision tasks will be shared by teachers and put on Bromcom/MCAS for you to see. Remove the distraction of phones during these periods.
  • Double check that your child has all the necessary equipment at home. Pens, pencils, ruler, calculator (for Maths and Science) as well as a protractor and compass for Maths.
  • Offer lots of encouragement and reassurance throughout the exam period.
  • Ensure they have eaten well and are hydrated before coming to school, and have strong sleep, rest patterns.

What about access arrangements?

Exam Access is currently being looked at and will be confirmed approved access needs will be included in the students TT.
