Y10 Work Experience – 13th July – 17th July 2026

Year 10 Work Experience Week: Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2026
We are pleased to announce that all students in Year 10 are invited to take part in a week of work experience in Term 6, taking place from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July 2026.
Work experience is hugely beneficial for young people; it is an opportunity to explore the world of work whilst developing transferable skills. Our aim is for all students to successfully attend work experience during the identified week, working for the full five days (Monday to Friday) within a work-based setting in a placement that they have organised themselves.
Students are expected to find and secure their own placements. We appreciate that, for many students, this is a new and challenging task and, therefore, we will assist them as much as we possibly can.
To help students prepare, a Careers Tutor Programme is in place. The topic of work experience was introduced at the start of Term 2, and students have been focusing on tasks that support their preparation for this opportunity. This includes, for example: an explanation of the work experience process and timeline; the benefits of work experience; understanding what employers are looking for; and application skills, including writing a cover letter and CV.
Each student has been provided with a Preparing for Work Experience workbook to support them in finding a placement and to maximise their chances of success whilst on work experience. A copy of this workbook can also be found on the HWA Careers website.

The deadline to submit the Work Experience Agreement Form, and therefore to secure a placement, is Friday 6 March 2026. This allows sufficient time for due diligence checks to be completed. Due to high demand, it is strongly advised that placements are secured as early as possible. We are keen to support students and parents/carers throughout this exciting process, so please do not hesitate to get in touch via wex.hwa@clf.uk.
If you have already secured a work experience placement for your child, please complete the Work Experience Agreement Form as soon as possible using the link above.
Please note the following:
- For safeguarding reasons, all placements must be based in one location. Any placement requiring travel in vehicles will not be authorised unless travel is with a family member.
- No lone working will be authorised; therefore, one-to-one working will also not be permitted.
Finally, we will be unable to authorise students to attend work experience on any dates other than the identified week of 13–17 July 2026, as this is necessary to protect students’ progress during this important first year of GCSEs.
