Y11 Poetry Live – Wednesday 21st January 2026.
Dear Parents and Carers of Year 11 Students,
We are pleased to offer our Year 11 GCSE English students the opportunity to attend Poetry Live! in Bath on Wednesday 21st January 2026.
Poetry Live! is a unique and inspiring event that brings together some of the poets whose work students study for their GCSE English Literature exam. Throughout the day, pupils will hear live readings, gain valuable insights into the poems on the syllabus, and receive guidance from chief examiners on how to approach the poetry section of the exam. This experience has consistently proven to boost students’ understanding, confidence, and performance in their GCSEs.
Cost and Payment
Thanks to additional support and funding from the Friends of Hanham Woods Academy, we are able to offer the trip at a reduced price of £20 per student. Payment should be made via Scopay. Please complete payment as soon as possible to secure a place. Any student who is currently in receipt of free school meals will have their place reserved. Please ensure payment has been made by Friday 19th December to secure your child’s ticket to the event – we anticipate that this will sell out fairly quickly.
Timings and Logistics
Students should arrive at Hanham Woods Academy at the normal time in the morning. Coaches will depart shortly afterwards. We expect to return to the Academy at approximately 4:00pm, depending on traffic.
Places Available
There are 100 places available, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Once these places are filled, we will run a waiting list.
