Dear Parents and Carers,
As the Summer examination period for Year 11 approaches, I am writing to you in advance of the Easter holidays to share important information and guidance. It is essential that students make effective use of their time between now and the start of the examinations. This letter outlines key details, including examination arrangements, important reminders, revision guidance, and responses to frequently asked questions at this stage of the academic year.

Personalised Examination Timetables
Students will receive their personalised examination timetable, including seating information prior to the Easter break. We would ask that you review this carefully with your child and contact the Academy should you have any queries. A full examination schedule is also provided below in the interim as an overview of all of the exams taking place.
What should I do if my child misplaces their personalised timetable?
Additional copies are available. Tutors retain spare copies, and further replacements may be obtained from the Key Stage 4 Pastoral Office (Humanities).
Supporting Your Child
You can support your child in preparing for their examinations by:
- Providing a quiet, dedicated, and distraction-free environment for study.
- Encouraging attendance at after-school intervention sessions.
- Monitoring the completion of homework and independent study.
- Supporting the organisation of a balanced weekly schedule, incorporating both revision and rest.
- Offering consistent encouragement, as parental support has a significant impact on students’ engagement and motivation.
- Promoting regular sleep routines and discussing any concerns they may have.
- Ensuring daily attendance at the Academy and communicating with Miss Marler or Miss Maddix should any pastoral support be required.
Revision Expectations
Students are expected to revise daily in manageable blocks of 30–45 minutes, distributing subjects across the week. As a guide, students should aim to complete approximately 15 hours of additional study per week.
Effective Revision Strategies
Revision should be active rather than passive; simply re-reading notes or textbooks is unlikely to be effective. We recommend:
- Completion of past examination papers
- Use of online quizzes
- Creation and review of flashcards
Students will be provided with a pack of past papers to support their revision at home.
Intervention Timetable
Our weekly intervention timetable continues to run up to the start of the summer examinations. This is a great opportunity for your child to supplement their revision and ascertain key exam support targeted at their weaknesses from the latest round of practice exams. The timetable is shared below.

Supporting Without Subject Expertise
Even without specific subject knowledge, you can support your child by:
- Ensuring they dedicate time each day to focused revision, free from distractions such as mobile devices.
- Encouraging healthy routines, including adequate sleep.
- Maintaining open communication regarding their progress and wellbeing.
- Ensuring consistent attendance and informing the Academy of any barriers to learning.
Leavers’ Event
A Year 11 leavers’ event is provisionally scheduled for the morning of Friday 19 June. Further details will be shared in due course.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Academy using the details provided above.
