Year 10 Health and Social Care BTEC assessments (Selected Students Only)
Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to update you on student progress through the BTEC course. During this term and the start of next term students will be completing their notes on component 1. They will then complete their formal assessment during lesson time in January.
To complete the exam students will have a drop down day on either Thursday the 22nd (10A) or Friday the 23rd of January (10D). This will be a whole day off timetable to complete their exam.
This assessment is a real assessment that is submitted to the exam board, this is not a practice. Students must complete the assessment in examination conditions, they are not allowed to complete the work outside of the timed conditions and they are only allowed to use their own personal notes to support their completion of tasks (no internet access or text books).
In preparation for the assessment I would like to invite students to catch up sessions after school on Thursdays. The first session will be Thursday the 13th of November.
These sessions are not compulsory but I highly recommend that your child attends to set them up for success. If your child has missed even one lesson they will be entering the exam with incomplete notes and should make every effort to stay for catch up where possible. All notes can be taken into the exam which means the better their notes are the more information they have to draw from in the exam.
The assessment is 30% of their final grade and so it is essential that they are fully prepared.
Yours sincerely
Nicholas Tucker | Subject Lead for Health and Social Care
