Year 10 Health and Social Care BTEC Assessments – (Selected Students Only)
Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 10 Health and Social Care BTEC Assessments – Updated Dates
I am writing to inform you of a change to the scheduled dates for the formal BTEC Health and Social Care assessment.
Students will still need to complete their notes for Component 1 during this term and the start of next term. However, the formal assessment will now take place on the following dates:
- Thursday, 29 January 2026 (10A)
- Friday, 30 January 2026 (10D)
This will be a full day off their normal timetable to complete the exam.
Please note that this is a formal assessment submitted to the exam board and will count towards their final grade. It is not a practice assessment, and students must complete the work under examination conditions. They are only permitted to use their own personal notes. No internet access or textbooks will be allowed during the assessment.
Preparation and Support
Catch-up sessions will continue to run after school on Thursdays to help students prepare for this assessment. These sessions are not compulsory, but I strongly recommend attendance, especially for students who have missed any lessons. If notes are incomplete, students will be at a disadvantage, as they can take their notes into the exam. The better their notes, the more information they will have to draw upon.
This assessment accounts for 30% of their final grade, so it is essential that students are fully prepared.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging your child to attend catch-up sessions and prepare thoroughly.
Yours sincerely,
Nicholas Tucker
Health and Social Care Lead
