Year 11 GCSE English Trip: Macbeth Theatre Visit – Tuesday 10th March 2026
Dear Parents and Carers of Year 11 Students,
We are delighted to offer our Year 11 GCSE English students the opportunity to attend a performance of Macbeth at the Tobacco Factory Theatre, Bristol, on Tuesday 10th March 2026 at 1:00pm. Further information about the show—including content and production notes—can be found here:
https://tobaccofactorytheatres.com/shows/macbeth-3/
We believe that watching Shakespeare’s work performed live brings the text to life for students, and we are excited to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the play in advance of their GCSE Literature Paper 1 exam later this year.
Cost and Payment
The cost of attending the trip is £29 per student. Payment should be made via Scopay as soon as possible to secure a place. Any student who is currently in receipt of free school meals will have their place reserved. Please ensure payment has been made by Friday 30th January to secure your child’s ticket to the event, as we anticipate that this will sell out fairly quickly.
Timings and Logistics
Students should arrive at Hanham Woods Academy at the normal time in the morning, wearing their school uniform and bringing a packed lunch. Students will attend their morning lessons as usual. Coaches will depart HWA at midday. The show has a running time of 2 hours and 30 minutes, including an interval, so we anticipate returning to the academy at approximately 4:30pm, depending on traffic.
Places Available
There are 90 places available, which will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Once these places are filled, we will operate a waiting list.
Medical Information
A medical and consent form must be completed for your child to attend. Please click the link below and provide the required information:
