Year 11 Maths – Equipment for GCSE Exams
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move into the final preparation period for GCSE Mathematics, I am writing to emphasise the importance of students bringing the correct equipment to every maths lesson.
The calculator papers will take place on 3 June and 10 June, and it is vital that students are confident and efficient in using their own calculator in lessons. Regular use in class helps to build familiarity and reduces mistakes under exam conditions.
In addition to a calculator, I strongly advise that students bring the following equipment to every maths lesson and to their exams:
– A ruler
– A protractor
– A pair of compasses
Having the correct equipment avoids unnecessary worry and ensures students can fully access all exam-style questions.
In lessons, students should be working on one exam paper per week. This paper should then be completed or reviewed at home. Each paper is supported by a link to video solutions, which students can use to help them understand any questions they found challenging.
Last term, students were also given a personalised revision checklist showing how they performed in each topic area, alongside linked Sparx clip numbers for targeted revision. This remains an important guide for directing independent study.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child prepare effectively for their forthcoming exams.
Yours sincerely
Victoria Williams
