Year 7: CLF-Block 3 Test Information

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you that the Year 7 CLF Block 3 test window will begin during the week commencing 16th March 2026. The tests will take place in classrooms, will last approximately 50 minutes, and will assess students’ learning mainly from Term 3 and some from Term 2 topics.

Teachers will advise students on the topics to revise and will confirm the exact dates of each test during lessons. Students will be told in advance when their test will take place so that they can prepare properly. I am meeting with class teachers this week to ensure that all students are well prepared for the upcoming assessments.

If your child is unsure what to revise, please encourage them to check Bromcom (MCAS) for further information. BBC Bitesize is also a useful revision tool. Links to these websites, along with other helpful resources, can be found in the ‘Shared Resources Year 7-CLF Block 3 Test folder in Student Navigator on the Hanham Woods website.

There is also a ‘Revision advice’ PDF available, which parents and carers may find helpful, especially if you are unsure how best to support your child with revision.

Key Stage 3 provides the foundations for GCSE success, and a strong understanding at this stage will help improve achievement later. However, we do not want students to feel unnecessary stress, and we certainly would not want them to lose sleep worrying about these tests. This is a good opportunity for them to begin developing effective revision habits, which will become increasingly important as they move through school. If you feel your child is struggling due to stress, please encourage them to speak to their tutor or a member of our pastoral team.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students the very best in their CLF tests and to thank you for your ongoing support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on sara.thomas@clf.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Thomas | Curriculum Leader for Science
