GCSE students celebrate at Hanham Woods Academy

Hanham Woods Academy is delighted to celebrate the achievements of its Year 11 student following the release of the summer 2025 GCSE results.
The school community came together this morning to celebrate the culmination of five years of hard work, resilience, and ambition.
This year’s results reflect another strong performance across the curriculum, with the academy’s Attainment 8 score reaching 45.4.
Notably, 63.6% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, while 39.9% secured grade 5 or above in these core subjects – marking an improvement from last year.
Principal Chris Ballard said: “We want to congratulate all of our Year 11 students who received their results today. We are incredibly proud of their achievements.
“These results are a testament to their passion, commitment, and the unwavering support of our staff and families.
“At Hanham Woods Academy, we strive to deliver excellence, build trust, and raise aspirations – and today’s outcomes reflect that mission in action.”
Several students achieved exceptional academic success:
- Akyra A: 8 GCSEs at grade 8, and 1 Distinction*
- Leigh-Anne B: 3 GCSEs at grade 9, 4 at grade 8, and 3 at grade 7
- Lydia D: 7 GCSEs at grade 9, 2 at grade 8, and 1 at grade 7
- Kieran F: 5 GCSEs at grade 9, 3 at grade 8, and 1 at grade 7
These students exemplify the Hanham Woods’ values of dreaming big and working hard.
The academy welcomed students from 9.30-11am to collect their results in person. The morning was filled with celebration and reflection as students looked ahead to their next steps in education and training.
Hanham Woods Academy wishes all its students continued success in the future and looks forward to seeing what they will achieve next.
The Hanham Woods students were among nearly 2,000 young people across the Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) who received their results today – with many celebrating outstanding results and getting set for the next stage of their education.
CLF Deputy CEO Sally Apps said: “As a trust we would like to extend our congratulations to the 1,994 students who are receiving their GCSE and equivalent qualifications today.
“These are the result of considerable effort, diligence and determination and the results celebrated today are opening the door to a range of excellent onward destinations for our young people who have studied at our mainstream and specialist schools.
“It is with considerable gratitude to our staff and parents that we celebrate, knowing that these outcomes are achieved as a result of a considerable team effort.
“It is particularly pleasing to see that this year, more young people who have experienced challenge and disadvantage during their school career are collecting strong results.
“We are proud of them and delighted for them, and wish all CLF Year 11 students – now part of our valued alumni and in many cases continuing their onward study with us – a happy and successful educational career.”
