Hanham Woods celebrates full Year 7 intake

The supportive local community around Hanham Woods Academy has shown its incredible support for the school in a truly impressive way.

With 180 places available for Year 7 students from September 2026, the academy is delighted to announce that the year group will be completely full. This fantastic news highlights the strong confidence local families have in the academy and the education and opportunities it provides.

The news reflects the growing reputation of the academy, and the positive experiences students have when they join the school community.

Two current Year 7 students shared their thoughts about their first year at the academy:

India Laker, Year 7
“I really like being at Hanham. When I first transitioned into Year 7, I felt fully supported the staff showed me around, guided me, and made me feel genuinely welcomed. Because of their support, I settled in quickly and soon felt confident and comfortable.

Hanham is a friendly place where I feel safe and well supported by the staff. I enjoy my lessons, especially PE and History, and I also take part in the netball club. I’m really hoping to go on the netball tour later this year — I’m so excited about it and can’t wait for the chance to travel, play more matches, and be part of the team adventure!”

Louis Baker, Year 7
“What I loved about transition day was being greeted by all my teachers. They welcomed me so warmly, and it really made the whole day feel exciting and positive. I really like Hanham because during the first week they showed us all around the school, so we knew exactly where we were going, and they even met us before each class to guide us there. I’ve really enjoyed PE and Drama, and I also love taking part in the after-school football sessions.”
