Academy Calendar – September 2020
Dear Prents/Carers
Following guidance from the Department for Education, and in order to prepare staff and students for a safe return of all students in September, we have made some changes to the start of the new academic year.
The first week of the academic year 2020-21 will now be as follows:

| Monday 31st August | BANK HOLIDAY – no staff or students in the academy |
| Tuesday 1st September | INSET DAY – all staff in the academy; no students |
| Wednesday 2nd September | ADDITIONAL TRAINING DAY – all staff in the academy; no students |
| Thursday 3rd September | Y7 INDUCTION DAY – all staff in the academy; Y7 students only |
| Friday 4th September | FURTHER INDUCTION DAY – all staff in the academy; Y7 and Y11 students only |
| Monday 7th September | WIDER INDUCTION DAY – all staff and all students in the academy |
| Tuesday 8th September onwards | Fully Operational Academy |
We have had to make these small changes so we can undertake extensive health and safety training in order to enable the Academy to be fully operational. We also need to ensure staff and students are inducted back into the Academy to support emotional wellbeing, mental health and ongoing academic development.
To allow the Academy to be fully operational from Tuesday 8th September we will need to put in place a range of protective measures to ensure we minimise the risks to both staff and students while Coronavirus remains in the community.
Once we have finalised these safety measures I will communicate them in full before the end of the summer term but I felt it important to inform you of the small changes to the start of the new academic year well ahead of time.
