Academy Principal Recruitment

Dear Parents/Carers

I wanted to update you on the Principal process that took place before the half term break. As you are aware, following my promotion to an Executive role in another Trust we have been through a recruitment process to find the next Principal for the Academy.

Applicants were shortlisted down to 5 candidates who were invited to attend an assessment day that happened on Thursday 27th May. There were four external candidates and one internal candidate. The assessment day had a full suite of panels and activities. Following the assessment day, 3 candidates were invited to interview. Candidates were asked to present for 10 minutes and then answer a range of questions to a panel that consisted of Nicky McAllister (a Director of the CLF Trust Board), Steve Taylor (CEO, CLF), Jon Gould (Chair of Hanham’s Academy Council), Sally Apps (Executive Principal, CLF) and Dan Nicholls (Director of Education, CLF).

Following the interviews, I am delighted to announce that Mr Steve O’Callaghan has been appointed as the new Principal at Hanham Woods Academy. Mr O’Callaghan performed very strongly across the assessment day and within the interview process. This is an excellent appointment for Hanham Woods Academy and the wider Trust.

I know you will join me in congratulating Mr O’Callaghan on his appointment. He has been central to our improvement journey at Hanham and working here as Vice Principal makes the transition more straight forward. I know that he intends to write to you this Term to introduce himself more formally.

I remain committed to ensuring the young people of Hanham are proud of their Academy and that they achieve success now and in the future.

Yours sincerely

Mr S T Kneller | Academy Principal
