Academy Update Term 6, Week 5

Dear Parents / Carers, 

I am writing to let you know that Mrs Hendra will be leaving at the end of this academic year after securing a promotion to another secondary school in the region. This is a huge loss to the Academy as Mrs Hendra has had immeasurable impact and contributed so much over the last few years in the role of Vice Principal. Mrs Hendra is committed to finishing her time at the Academy strongly and is working hard to support staff and students to have a successful end of term. I’m sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Hendra best wishes in her new role. 

Over the last two days I have been involved in running a recruitment process for a new Vice Principal. We had many strong candidates who were tested across the two days, and I’m delighted to announce that our new Vice Principal will be Mrs Tushingham. Many of you will know Mrs Tushingham already as she is currently working in the Academy as an Assistant Principal (and has been for a number of years deepening her experience of academy improvement). Mrs Tushingham performed well against a strong national field and is looking forward to starting the next academic year as Vice Principal. 

Reminder of key dates: 

• Friday 5th July – INSET day – Academy closed to all students 

• Weds 10th July – Festival of Sport – students will need to come to the Academy in their PE kit and ensure they have a refillable water bottle. 

• Friday 12th July – Rewards Trip 

• Monday 15th – Friday 19th July – Year 10 Work Experience 

• Tuesday 23rd July – Last day of term (earlier finish for students – more information to follow).
