Careers and Employability Event for Year 10 – 17th May 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
In the week beginning Monday 17th May 2021, we will be hosting a Careers and Employability event for the whole of Year 10 to prepare them for their next steps into Year 11 and for their future in the world of work.
We are very lucky to have two amazing speakers within this week who will be offering advice and information on Employability and Apprenticeships. I will also be delivering an information session on the Speakers for Schools platform that offers Virtual Work Experience opportunities and how they may feel about seeking out their own experience of work in the summer (restrictions permitting)
- Wendy Shambrook from the Department of Work and Pensions will deliver a workshop on employment skills and how to prepare for the world of work.
- Junior Saunders from ASK Apprenticeships will advise our students with an introduction to apprenticeships and how to search and apply for them successfully.
There will be an opportunity for all students throughout the event to have a Careers advice and guidance session from myself to set them up for their 1:1 meeting that will take place in Year 11.
All students will attend lessons as usual but will be invited to attend specific sessions across the week. I will be sending a Microsoft form via Show My Homework for our students to complete before and after the event to offer feedback and to help inform us of next steps for Year 11.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this event. I can be contacted directly by email on [email protected]
Thank you for your continued support
Yours sincerely
Samantha Burt | CEIAG Co-Ordinator
