Christmas Food Bank and Gift Appeal

Dear Parents/Carers

We are again organising collections both for the local food banks in the Kingswood and Bristol area, and a Christmas Gift Appeal for The Salvation Army.  We have made these collections in previous years and have provided vital contributions to both charities.

The local food banks are now a lifeline for many local adults and children who otherwise may go hungry. This is for many reasons, from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill and inflation.

We would like to collect in-date non-perishable items at the Academy to support the Kingswood Branch of the food bank which is run by the Trussell Trust. Any donations can be brought to the Academy between Monday 2nd and Wednesday 4th December. There will be a box outside of the reception area for these collections.

Please see below the list of items that the food bank would like us to collect.

Christmas Food Bank and Gift Appeal

In addition to the above, we are also supporting The Salvation Army Christmas present appeal. If you are able to donate a Christmas gift then we will distribute these gifts to the local Salvation Army. We believe every child deserves a new gift at Christmas so we are unable to take used or second-hand items for the Christmas Present Appeal.   The suggested Gift list for Children and Young People is as follows:

  • 0-2 years: shape sorters, interactive play mats, cot mobiles, mega blocks, dolls, cars, fabric/board books
  • 3-5 years: imaginative toys, cars, dolls, Duplo sets, board games, jigsaws, crayon sets, playdough, books
  • 5-7 years: cars & dolls, Lego & construction sets, board games, art & craft sets, jigsaws, books
  • 7-9 years: Lego & construction sets, magic kits, science kits, board games, art & craft sets, jigsaws, books
  • 10-13 years: Construction kits, science/magic kits, art/craft sets, board games, stationary, footballs, books
  • 14-18 years: Art, craft & stationery sets, nail varnish sets, hairdryers, jewellery boxes, jewellery, watches, board games, footballs, books, adult colouring books with pens/pencils, comfy throws
  • Adults: Toiletry sets for men & women, jewellery boxes, watches, adult colouring books

Please avoid second hand items, anything that needs batteries / Wi-Fi, DVDs, candles and anything that contains food.

We would appreciate your support in these collections to help our & those local families during the festive season.

With warmest wishes at Christmas.
