CLF Raising Aspirations Event 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

CLF Raising Aspirations Event 2021

On Wednesday 3rd March 2021 Year 9 students across the Federation have the opportunity to participate in a careers event called ‘Raising Aspirations’. All normal timetabled lessons will be suspended for the entire day for our Year 9 cohort so there is a compulsory expectation to attend the event for all students.

About Raising Aspirations

Raising Aspirations is an annual conference designed to support, engage and inspire students, helping them to understand the options and pathways, and take part in meaningful and valuable learning experiences. Students get the opportunity to meet a range of employers, gain employability skills and explore their Post-16 options.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable career insights and start to explore options after GCSEs.

Usually this is hosted at the University of the West of England; however, due to the pandemic and lockdown this is currently not possible, therefore, ‘Raising Aspirations’ has moved into a virtual space.

The event is being supported and hosted by LiketoBe, an online Careers Event Network. You can view their site here – https://www.liketobe.org/content/what-we-do.  There will be no timetabled lessons on Show My Homework for this day and all content will be accessed solely through the LikeToBe platform.

Attending the event

To take part in this event students will have to register on the site beforehand.  Once registered, LiketoBe become the data controllers, therefore please get in touch with myself if you require to see their privacy notice.

Students will have an online tutorial by Miss Burt to show them how they create a profile with LikeToBe before the event and then they can individually navigate their way around the site during the day. Students do not need to pre-register for particular workshops, they can just join ones of their choosing on the day.

During the course of the day students will navigate through three Zones: Business, Education (Further and Higher providers) and Employability Skills. Within each session they will attend short 20-minute pre-recorded workshops and take part in activities they can do at home.

There are plenty of breaks built into the schedule and they will have access to support via the platform and the Academy throughout the day.

After the event you, or they, can choose to close their account on LiketoBe or continue to use it as a resource to research careers and pathways.

If you have any queries or questions regarding this event, please email me at [email protected]

Kind Regards

Samantha Burt | C.E.I.A.G Co-Ordinator
