Face Coverings for Students
Dear Parents/Carers
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to navigate through the pandemic and provide students with the best chance of success. It has been amazing to see the culture of care and kindness that students have shown, looking after themselves and others throughout the last 18 months.
As you will be aware the Academy has several mitigations in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. It has come to my attention that a number of students are not wearing their face coverings or not bringing a face covering to the Academy. In order to keep everyone safe it is important that every student brings a face covering (except for those who are exempt from wearing a face covering for health reasons) and complies with our reasonable request to wear them.
Recent government guidance states that face coverings need to be worn in communal areas. At Hanham Woods Academy that means we need students to:
- have a face covering with them every day
- put their face covering on as they enter a building from an outside space
- put their face covering on at the end of a lesson and keep it on until they reach an outdoor space
From Monday 6th December 2021, failure to follow a reasonable request to put a face covering on (after being reminded and given the opportunity to put a face covering on) may result in a sanction for not following instructions and further education about keeping people safe.
Thank you again for your support throughout this period, and for your flexibility in working with these arrangements. We want to ensure we keep everyone safe.
Dream BIG // Work Hard // Be Kind
Kind Regards
Mr S O’Callaghan | Academy Principal
