GCSE Geography Field Trip Lyme Regis – 2nd October 2024

Dear Parents/Carers

GCSE Geography Field Trip Lyme Regis – 2nd October 2024

As you are aware, your child is currently studying GCSE Geography.  A compulsory element of the course is the opportunity to participate in fieldwork; the students will then be required to use the data that they collect to prepare for their upcoming GCSE examination. We will be visiting Lyme Regis to look at coastal management and the landscape.

When?

Leave Hanham Woods Academy8am (students need to be onsite at 7.55am to board coach)
Return to Hanham Woods Academy5.30pm

What do they need to bring / wear?

  • A packed lunch will be required as there are limited shops in this area to purchase food.
  • Students may wish to bring some money for an ice cream or a souvenir shop.
  • Students can wear their own appropriate clothes. These must be suitable for a day on the coast in October. There is no shelter from rain or sun, so please make sure they bring sun lotion, a waterproof coat and wear comfortable shoes.

In order for this trip to take place we require a financial contribution, this covers the cost of staffing and the cost of the coach hire. The amount we recommend paying for this trip is £20 per student, this covers coach travel and staffing costs for the day Should you require support with the cost please do not hesitate to contact me on the email below. Students who are in receipt of the pupil premium may qualify for some financial support with these payments, again please contact me should you require support
