GCSE Music – Year 11 – Terms 5 & 6

Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to you to let you know that unfortunately Ms Filain, your child’s Music teacher, is absent due to illness and unlikely to return to the Academy before the Music GCSE on 17^th June 2024.

We have been working with colleagues within the Cabot Learning Federation and AQA to put a plan in place that provides Music students with stability and subject specialist provision between now and the GCSE exam. We have taken the following measures:

We will be supported by a Music specialist from within the Federation who will oversee coursework assessment; an extension has been granted by the exam board to enable this work to be done to our expected high standards.

Students have been supported by Ms Hurrell (senior line manager of Music) this week and last week to upload work and complete AQA paperwork to ensure that coursework is submitted in line with AQA guidance.

We have recruited an experienced subject specialist, Ms Dean, who is familiar with the course specification to teach the group up to their Exam. Miss Hurrell has supported the handover of the group this week and will continue to check in on the class as will myself and Mr O’Callaghan.
