Re: proposal to change the start of the school day
I am writing to inform you of some proposed changes to the timings of the school day at Hanham Woods Academy. The changes are:
We are considering a small adjustment to the start of the Academy Day by moving it from 8:30am to 8:35am.
The arrangements ensure that we continue to meet the Department for Education’s minimum expectation of a 32.5-hour school week
Students will still be able to access the Academy each morning as usual ahead of 8:30, our canteen serves hot food from 8:15 each morning for students wishing to purchase it.
Should the changes be approved, they will come into effect from Wednesday 3 September 2025.
The information in this letter has also been sent to our neighbouring primary schools and local authority so that we can continue to work together to ensure that there is minimal disruption.
I appreciate that these changes may affect you in terms of childcare or working arrangements and you may have questions related to your child’s education. For this reason, I would like to invite you to please share any feedback that you have by completing this survey by Friday 13th June 2025.
Following this consultation, we will communicate the confirmed timings of the academy day in Term 6 alongside our wider ‘Preparing for the new school year updates’.
