Time off for Eid-al-Adha

Dear Parents/Carers

Hajj Mubarak to all our Muslim families.

We know that our Muslim families are looking forward to celebrating Eid on Friday 6th June 2025.

If your child is in Year 11, please note that there are very important exams taking place on Friday 6th June.  All Year 11 students have an English Language GCSE exam in the morning, so your child will still need to arrive at the Academy in good time.  There is no mechanism for students observing Eid to do this exam at any other time, therefore,  students must still come to school to sit the exam on Friday morning.

On Friday afternoon there is a Geography GCSE exam, so any students studying Geography must be in the Academy for the whole day.  If your child doesn’t study Geography and you would like them to leave straight after their English exam, please let the Academy know in advance.

If your child is not in Year 11, as usual, we will authorise one day’s leave from the Academy for students to celebrate. If your child will be absent, please let us know as soon as you possibly can, by emailing HWAAttendance@clf.uk

If your child is absent to celebrate Eid and you have not let us know, their absence will be recorded as unauthorised, and we will follow our usual unexplained absence process.

We know what a busy time the lead up to Eid-al-Adha can be, so we really appreciate your support with keeping us informed.

Hajj Mubarak to all our Muslim families celebrating!

Yours sincerely

Mr C Ballard | Academy Principal
