Year 10 Assessments – January 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Students in Year 10 will be completing their first round of Year 10 assessments upon their return to the Academy after Christmas, week commencing 13th January 2025.

Most subjects will complete these assessments within their lessons, however, Maths, English and Science examinations will be taking place in examination rooms across the Academy. This simulates the set-up students will face at the end of Year 10 and into Year 11 and so provides great preparation for those examinations to follow.

A complete copy of the Core exam schedule is shared below for your reference.

Year 10 Assessments - January 2025

What happens next?

Your child will have an exams assembly on their first week back after Christmas. They will then receive their examination timetable which contains the subject, exam duration and which room and seat they have been allocated.

What can I do to help prepare my child?

  • Double check that your child has all of the necessary equipment at home. Pens, pencils, ruler, calculator (from Maths and Science) as well as a protractor and compass for Maths.
  • Students are receiving a list of topics to focus upon for Maths. Encourage your child to do some independent work on Sparx on these areas.
  • Be supportive and take an interest in their exams. They are an important period of time in year 10 and it is important that your child engages with the assessments and that they feel supported both in and out of school to get the best possible results.

When will I know their results?

Students will find out their scores in lessons towards the end of January / start of February. They will then be undertaking some feedback upon completion of their exams through lessons and homework.

Will I have an opportunity to discuss results and progress with staff?

Yes. The best time to do this will be Year 10 Parents Evening on Thursday 13th February 2025.

In the mean time if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards and have a wonderful Christmas.
