Year 10 Catch-Up Asessments
Dear Parent/Carer
As you will be aware, we have recently completed our latest set of Year 10 assessments (Monday 1st Feb – Wednesday 10th Feb). These were taken online, via Show My Homework as part of your child’s distance learning timetable.
Our analysis of student submissions has flagged some missing assessments for your child.
Your child will receive an email from myself to their Academy account today (Friday 26th March) directing them to complete specific missing assessments.
How Will My Child Complete Their Assessments?
On Monday 1st March a Year 10 assessment catch-up task will appear on your child’s SMHW calendar containing the live links they need to access the assessments they have missed. The deadline for submitting the assessments is Friday 5th March.
How Will Missing Assessments Affect My Child?
By giving the assessments their best go students are providing their subject teachers with valuable insight into their knowledge base and their future learning needs. This will enable teachers to plan ahead to support your child in making the best possible return to their onsite studies at the Academy.
You will receive a progress check in the post the week beginning 15th March containing current and predicted grades in all subjects. If your child missed an assessment in the original window, then the current grade will appear as an ‘X’ mark.
If your child submits their assessment in this second window (1st – 5th March) subject teachers will amend the current grade and you will receive an updated progress check home in the post.
As you can understand, when your child returns to the Academy, we want to ensure that their time is spent on classwork, and not catching up on assessments missed during the lockdown period. If, however, there are specific difficulties that you or your child are experiencing that are preventing them from completing the assessments OR you feel that an error has been made; please contact the raising attainment team:
