Year 10 Health & Social Care Exam

Dear Parents/Carers

As the year draws to a close, I wanted to write to you to acknowledge how extremely proud I am of the hard work the Health and Social Care students have put in since September in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming exam next term. I am pleased to now be able to share with you the formal date of the exam which will be Friday 5th February 2021 at 9am.

This is the formal external component of their course and is the only assessment that is under exam conditions. The other assessments for this course are assignment based. Although there will be the opportunity to be entered once more for this exam in Year 11, I want to stress that this is the real exam and not an Academy administered PPE. As such, we are under the confinements of Pearson with regards to how we deliver the exam. In instances impacted by Covid related isolation there is guidance from Pearson which we can share with you should you wish to or need to review it. However, other than this, students are expected to attend. Alternative dates and times for completion of this exam are not available.

Students will be required to be on site by 8.30am on the day of the exam. They will be notified of the location of the exam closer to the date and meet here on arrival to the site. The exam will start promptly at 9am and the students will return to their normal day following completion of the exam.

The Year 10 students have now completed their studies of all of the content for the exam, they have in the final week of this term completed a full PPE and when we return in January we will focus on individual revision and exam skills. I am extremely proud of the work ethic, focus and dedication to the subject they have shown since returning in September.

Yours sincerely

Ms Tasha Wolyn | Head of Social Science
