Year 10 Science Revision and Intervention Plan
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your kind and wholehearted support during the Science Information Evening ahead of the June PPEs. As mentioned, the period from Easter to June is crucial for revising Paper 1 topics. Students will be sitting another Paper 1 mock exam in November 2026 when they move into Year 11. The topics assessed in the November mock will be same as those revised for June mock exam.
All Year 10 science teachers have now completed teaching the Paper 1 content and will be revisiting these topics during Term 5. It is therefore extremely important students begin revising at home and continue with independent study. To support this, I have created a 10‑week revision plan that breaks the content into manageable weekly sections. If students follow this plan, they will complete one thorough round of revision by the first week of June and be well prepared for their exams.
We kindly ask for your support in using the parent checklist to monitor your child’s revision. Please “tick off” or cross‑check the topics they have completed each week. Ideally, students should:
- watch the revision video for approximately 10 minutes
- complete 10 minutes of Seneca learning
- practise exam questions from the revision guide
If students miss a week of revision due to after‑school commitments or family events, please support them in planning how to catch up the following week. Alternatively, they can speak to me or their science teacher—we are always happy to guide them.
There will also be after‑school science intervention sessions during Term 5, which we strongly encourage all Year 10 students to attend alongside Year 11. The topics covered will include content from both Year 9 and Year 10 so that all KS4 students can benefit. All resources shared during the information evening, along with the Term 5 intervention timetable, are available using the following instructions:
Go to the Hanham Woods Academy website and click on the login area

Click on the student navigator area and enter school email and password (to log into school computers) if this appears:

Then click on the shared files area:

Go into the student folder, then science.
In the folder there are the following folders with resources for each paper with PowerPoints, exam questions and everything we use.
In the folder ‘7 Really useful GCSE resources’ there is additional support including the attached files which are also really helpful with the links to YouTube videos for each specification point
