Year 11 – Last Day of School / Leavers Event / Key Dates

Dear Parents/Carers, 

Thank you for your ongoing support with all of Year 11. We are nearing the end of the examinations and so I wanted to write to update you on end of examination arrangements, the leavers event and key dates. 

Last Day of School 

The final examination takes place on Wednesday 18th June 2025; however, the official last day has been confirmed as Monday 16th June 2025.  All students have a Physics exam that morning and will be able to leave site after this (approximately 10:30am / 11:00am) unless they have a big lesson in Spanish, Food Technology or Music. If this is the case, then they will be expected to remain on site to attend these sessions to help prepare for their exams in these subjects for the remainder of the day.  

After Monday 16th June 2025, students who still have outstanding exams will only need to attend the Academy for their examinations or if they are in the two classes outlined below where an additional ‘big lesson’ session is arranged:  

  • Tuesday period 3 and 4 (11:00 – 12:40) – Food Technology (11cFT2) with Miss Sanderson. 
  • Tuesday period 6 (2:10 – 3:00) – Further Maths with Mr Iwi. 

If their exam is in the morning then they must arrive by 8:30am to be registered and by 1:15pm for any afternoon exams.  

Year 11 Leavers Event 

To celebrate the conclusion of exams, we will be holding a Year 11 Leavers event on Friday 20th June 2025 from 9:10am – 10:15am. This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole Year Group to be together following the conclusion of their exams and celebrate their time at Hanham Woods Academy. Students must wear uniform and will have an opportunity to take photos and sign their shirts as a Year Group before we hold a short leavers assembly in the main hall.  

Dates for the Diary  

  • Year 11 Prom – Thursday 3rd July 2025 at The Grange Hotel in Winterbourne.  
  • Exam Results Day – Thursday 21st August 2025. Further communication to follow.  

Thanks again for all of your support throughout the examinations and more broadly with your child’s time in Year 11. They have been a fantastic Year Group, and we hope this is reflected in their results in the summer.
