An assembly will be held on Monday 27th February outlining the examination period, time management, expectations during this time and information about next steps after exams conclude. We will be circulating personalised timetables for each student this week so please expect to see these shared at home with you.

What can I do to help prepare my child for the next few weeks?

  • Double check they have all of the necessary equipment at home. They must have a clear pencil case that contains pens, pencils, a ruler, calculator, highlighters as well as a protractor and compass for Maths. Clear pencil cases are available to purchase for £1.50 through student reception at the Academy.
  • Be relentlessly positive. 3 weeks of exams is challenging, and the experience is emotionally very demanding. Your support at home will go a long way to making their experience that much more positive.
  • Encourage revision throughout. Students should be focused and revising for every subject. February half term falls during the exam period and this is a particularly great opportunity to maximise their revision time.
  • Keep us informed. If your child is finding exams challenging, then please let us know. The year 11 Team will do all we can to support your child throughout.

What happens if my child is ill or misses an exam?

Given the importance of these assessments, we will be running catch up slots for students to complete missed exams. Please continue to contact school to inform us of any absence so that we can plan catch ups most effectively.

When will I know their results?

Students will find out their scores through a mock results morning in March. (The exact date will be confirmed nearer the time). They will then be undertaking some informed feedback upon completion of their exams through lessons and homework. These personalised next steps are extremely important to help move their grades in the right direction.

Will I have an opportunity to discuss results and progress with staff?

Yes. The best time to do this will be Year 11 Parents Evening on Thursday 27th March 2025.

In the meantime if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Josh Hocking | Year 11 Academic Lead
