Year 11 Virtual Parent’s Evening – Thursday 31st March 2022– 4pm to 7pm

Dear Parents/Carers

Following the recent round of February PPEs, your child will receive a certificate of results on Monday 28th March.  We are aiming to make this experience as realistic as possible because we want to celebrate our students’ hard work and excellent outcomes as well as supporting them in making the best possible choices in the run up to the May/June GCSEs. For some students this will mean making positive changes in their Academy and home study to reach the true potential that we know they have.

To provide our students with the best chance if success we are:

  • Running weekly morning revision meetings for all students
  • Continuing to deliver nightly subject interventions
  • Giving improvement feedback following PPEs
  • Providing bespoke revision lists
  • Insisting on distraction free lessons
  • Offering one to one pastoral support in response to student requests
  • Teaching students simple but effective stress management methods as part of the tutor programme
  • Giving students a bespoke GCSE planner with key dates and revision planning templates to ensure that they are in control and make the best use of the time they have left
  • Cheering them on every step of the way!

Prior to parents’ evening your child will receive their progress check which will contain predicted grades for all subjects. This is a holistic grade that takes into account historical performance, attitude to learning in lessons and home learning to provide to most accurate picture of your child’s GCSE performance should they continue to progress in the same way until GCSE exams in Terms 5 and 6.

Parents’ evening will provide a formal opportunity to discuss with your child’s subject teachers current performance and targets for further improvement. It is, therefore, an important part of our Academy calendar and we very much looking forward to welcoming you online on that evening.  Appointments start at 4pm and finish at 7pm.

The booking system for this evening is electronic. Parents/Carers will now be able to book virtual appointments with teachers directly via an online booking system.  To do this, visit https://hanhamwoods.parentseveningsystem.co.uk (there is also a link to this website on our Academy website) where you will be asked for your details to access appointments. If you are unsure of your child’s tutor group, then please ask them for this information.   To assist with booking video calls, we have produced the following Parents Evening Video Appointments Guide

Appointment bookings open on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 at 9am and will close on Wednesday 30th March 2022 at 3pm.  Appointments are scheduled on a first come first served basis, therefore, we would encourage you to do this as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Once you have made appointments, you will receive an email confirming the appointments you have made. Should you wish to make any changes after this date or you do not have access to the internet, please contact Main Reception who will be happy to add/amend appointments on your behalf.

Yours sincerely

Mrs R Tushingham | Assistant Principal – Raising Attainment
