Year 7 Book Collection
Dear Parents/Carers
It is our ambition that by the end of this term all students in Year 7 will have access to newly loaned books from our Hanham Woods Academy library. This is so we will end Term 3 with students having physical reading books at home to support their distance learning. This will allow our Accelerated Reader programme to continue into Term 4 without disruption.
In order to achieve this, we are putting in place a ‘click and collect’ system with the following steps:
- Step 1: Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd February – All Year 7 Students reserve library books online. Deadline for book reservation is Wednesday 3rd February 2021
Students will need to go online this week to the HWA Access IT library software where they will reserve a maximum of two books. All details of how to do this, and relevant links, are fully outlined in a SMHW task set this week. Mrs Jardine has included an information video on how to use the library software. To use this system, students need to know their library pin and current AR book level. This information can be found in your child’s planner. If for any reason this cannot be located, then we ask that you email [email protected] for further support in the first instance.
- Step 2: From Tuesday 2nd February – Parents/Carers book appointment to come and collect. Deadline for collection appointment booking is Friday 5th February 2021
Parents/Carers will need to access our Parents Evening Booking system to book a time slot for collection. This is in order to stagger arrivals to the Academy so we can maintain Covid-secure practices. We hope that this will also provide reassurance that visits are limited to small numbers on site at any one time. Please click this link to book: https://hanhamwoods.schoolcloud.co.uk/. Bookings open at 9.00am on Tuesday 2nd February. You will select a time slot with your child’s Head of House. Once the time has been selected, there is no further action required.
- Step 3: w/c 8th February 2021 – Parent/Carer book collection begins.
Please come to the Academy Reception at your scheduled time for collection. We ask, kindly, that you wear a face mask covering on site and that you observe social distancing during your visit, as is normal in public spaces during this time of national restrictions.
For those with children accessing our daily key worker on site provision, there is no need to make an appointment to collect books. We will deliver these to your child in their classroom for taking home.
If you have any questions regarding any aspect or this scheme, then please do not hesitate to contact me via email [email protected].
Yours sincerely
Mrs Sara Hutchinson | Assistant Principal
