Year 9 Virtual Parent’s Evening – Thursday 10th February 2022– 4pm to 7pm
Dear Parents/Carers,
As you may be aware, there is a Year 9 Virtual Parent’s Evening taking place online on Thursday 10th February 2022.
This evening will provide a formal opportunity to discuss with your child’s subject teachers current performance and targets for further improvement. It is, therefore, an important part of our Academy calendar and we very much looking forward to welcoming you online on that evening. Appointments start at 4pm and finish at 7pm.
The booking system for this evening is electronic and now open. Parents/Carers can book virtual appointments with teachers directly via the online booking system. To do this, click Parents Evening Booking System where you will be asked for your details to access appointments (there is also a link to this on our Academy website). If you are unsure of your child’s tutor group, then please ask them for this information. To assist with booking video calls, we have produced the following Parents Evening Video Appointments Guide
Also, in advance of this evening, your child’s most recent progress check will be made available to you. This information is being shared in advance of the subject progress meetings, so that you can analyse the data and be fully aware of your child’s progress ahead of the evening itself. This will look similar to the image below:
This is something that you may have already seen, and are familiar with. However, there has been a change this year whereby your child will get a DOOYA grade (see the diagram above). The change is that they can now be assigned O1 (On track secure) or O2 (One track insecure). The reason behind this is to add in another layer of focus for teachers when assessing and marking students’ learning. It also allows us to differentiate where progress is on track, but still needs additional support. More detailed descriptors can be read on your child’s progress check.
Appointment bookings are now open and you will be able to book to see your child’s teachers. Appointments are scheduled on a first come first served basis, therefore, we would encourage you to do this as soon as is possible to avoid disappointment. Once you have made appointments, you will receive an email confirming the appointments you have made. Should you wish to make any changes after this date or you do not have access to the internet, please contact Main Reception who will be happy to add/amend appointments on your behalf.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs R Tushingham | Assistant Principal-Raising Attainment
Mrs L Harris | Associate Assistant Principal – Raising Attainment
