year 11 Parents Term 4 Update – 6 weeks until GCSEs

Dear parents and carers of year 11. We are 6 weeks away from GCSE exams commencing which means that there is a lot taking place within the Academy to support students both academically and emotionally in this final phase of their time with us.

As parents you will want to be armed with all of the information you need to plan and support your child, below is a condensed ‘bulletin’ of need to know information to support you between now and the end of term 4. A further update will be provided at the end of term 4 with detail of day-to-day routines during the GCSE period.

Term 4 Year 11 Parent Information Update:

Statement of entry – this is a printed record of all of the subjects that your child has been entered to sit GCSE exams in. If there are any errors contact [email protected] urgently

GCSE start and end dates – GCSE start on Tuesday 7th May, the last exam is on Wednesday the 19th June. Wednesday 26th June is a national GCSE exam contingency day. You are advised to ensure that your child is available on this date

Hoodies – we are awaiting a final few hoodies on site and will distribute to students as soon as we are able to

Prom update – letter two is on its way, students will be given an updated prom status using their conduct record between the end of the November mocks and now. This will be communicated with PPE results.

PPE Results – Students will receive current and predicted grades week beginning 18th March

Intervention – will move back to a one week timetable for the final 6weeks before GCSEs. Students will receive the timetable next week, we strongly encourage them to sessions where they are not on track to achieve grade 9-5

Study leave – students do not go onto student leave when exams start. We rework the timetable to provide taught revision from subject specialists throughout the GCSE period. request for authorised absence so that students can study independently at home during this period will be refused in line with local authority guidance to schools.
