Happy Monday, I am delighted to share with you some of the key information and updates that we are developing at Hanham Woods Academy to improve our provision and help our students to thrive across all years groups and be great Hanham Citizens. Vision assembly FINAL
Last week I began with sharing to students the Principal Vision for HWA that gave a clear direction for students to understand the “way we do things at Hanham”. This has been a positive relaunch for Hanham and students are responding well.
I have been engaging with many parents ( parents meeting, phone calls, Teams meetings) who have reached out to me to share their journey at Hanham, providing vital feedback to support improvement developments. Thank you for your care and commitment to Hanham Woods community.
So key areas of improvement is our approach to the management of Behaviour. This work is the key priority that is aimed to support students make positive choices and be supported when things do not quite go well in the school day. Parents have received details regarding our focus areas ( Uniform, Mobile Phones, Social time conduct, Truancy, Punctuality to lessons, Ready to learn- 2 warnings, detentions, Toilet breaks and restorative practice) . This is shaping a reformed culture in the school. Thank you for your support.

Term 5 EDI assembly – May 26 We are relaunching our Behaviour Policy and sanctions, which involves our approach to sanctions including suspensions and reintegration meetings.
Our staff development has been focused on creating a positive culture for students to thrive, revisiting our standards and expectations with a relaunch on starting lessons well with purpose and intent.
This week we move into Mental Health week, and we will share the developments for HWA, our strategy, our graduated response to support students and the wider help our young people who most need it can access. Children’s mental health and well-being is a priority agenda for us to address at Hanham.
