STEM Challenge: Aircraft Challenge by Airbus (Selected Students Only)

Dear Parents/Carers

We are excited to inform you that your child has been selected to participate in an exciting opportunity— STEM Challenge: Aircraft Challenge by Airbus through Smallpeice Trust.

What is the STEM Challenge?

The Aircraft Challenge is an opportunity for students to practically explore the physics of flight through concepts such as aerodynamics and forces. Students design and construct an aeroplane which can travel the furthest distance in the air. The plane is powered by a propeller mechanism and the fuselage is constructed out of balsa wood.

Whilst we appreciate that not all students will be interested in engineering as a career choice, this is nonetheless a fantastic opportunity for them to start considering what it is they are looking for from a career.

This prestigious event brings together young minds to tackle real-world challenges in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Your child was chosen based on their demonstrated aptitude, enthusiasm, and potential in these fields, and we believe they will thrive in this stimulating experience.

Throughout the STEM Challenge, students will have the chance to engage with professionals such as engineers from Airbus, work on innovative projects, and develop valuable skills that will help shape their future educational and career paths.

When and where is the Challenge taking place?

The challenge will take place at HWA on Thursday 30th January-it is a whole day challenge, and students will be provided with all necessary materials, guidance, and support during the event. The challenge will likely take part in the Hall/ SO1- to be confirmed. Please can you let your child know this.
