Year 10 Virtual Parent’s Evening – Wednesday 6th March 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 10 Virtual Parents’ Evening – Wednesday 6th March 2024 – 4pm to 7pm

Year 10 Parents Evening is on Wednesday 6th March from 4pm till 7pm.  This will be a virtual Parents Evening

This evening will provide a formal opportunity to discuss with your child’s subject teachers, their current performance and targets for further improvement. It is an important part of our Academy calendar and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you online on that evening.

The booking system for this evening is electronic. Parents/Carers will now be able to book virtual appointments with teachers directly via an online booking system.  To do this please see the Link: https://hanhamwoods.schoolcloud.co.uk (there is also a link to this website on our Academy website) where you will be asked for your details to access appointments. If you are unsure of your child’s tutor group, then please ask them for this information.   To assist with booking video calls, we have produced the following Parents Evening Video Appointments Guide

The system opens for bookings on Tuesday 27th February 2024 at 6pm.

In advance of this evening, your child’s most recent progress check will be made available to you. Year 10 have recently completed formal assessments in Maths, Science and English for which a numerical score has been awarded. Details of scores are contained within students progress checks. It is too early to award current or predicted grades; however, your child’s teacher will be able to give a detailed insight into the subject’s strengths and weaknesses during the appointment.

Scores/grades have not been awarded in other subjects, formal assessment have not yet taken place with the focus being on curriculum completion and responsive teaching to support students in tackling misconceptions and areas of difficulty. This will form the basis of discussions with subject teachers at parents evening. A full suite of assessments will take place during term 6 after which current grades will be awarded across all subjects.

We have included with the progress check – a behaviour dashboard to provide up to date conduct information. This includes positive points, inclusion area referrals and detentions.

Appointments are scheduled on a first come first served basis, therefore, we would encourage you to do this as soon as is possible to avoid disappointment. Once you have made appointments, you will receive an email confirming the appointments you have made. Should you wish to make any changes after this date or you do not have access to the internet, please contact Main Reception who will be happy to add/amend appointments on your behalf.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs R Tushingham | Assistant Principal-Raising Attainment

Mr J Littlejohns | Associate Assistant Principal and Year 10 Academic Leader
